OUR REGION

Tourism across our region is supported by a strong network of local councils, Local Tourism Associations (LTAs) and Visitor Information Centres. Together, these organisations help welcome visitors, support operators and contribute to the ongoing development of our destination.

LOCAL COUNCILS

Local councils play an important role in supporting tourism through planning, infrastructure, community development and destination stewardship. They work closely with operators, LTAs and regional organisations to help create welcoming, sustainable and well-managed destinations across the region. Our region spans across nine local councils:

  1. West Coast Council

  2. Circular Head Council

  3. King Island Council

  4. Waratah-Wynyard Council

  5. Burnie City Council

  6. Central Coast Council

  7. Devonport City Council

  8. Latrobe Council

  9. Kentish Council

LOCAL TOURISM ASSOCIATIONS (LTAs)

LTAs represent and support tourism operators within their respective areas, promoting their destinations and strengthening local industry networks. They play an important role as connectors - linking operators with one another, with councils and with regional initiatives to support collaboration and growth.

VICs provide trusted, on-the-ground support for visitors across the region. As key touchpoints within the visitor journey, they offer local knowledge, travel advice and booking assistance, while also acting as important connectors between visitors, operators and the wider tourism network.
